Memorial Day Prayer
Almighty Father, thank you for the opportunity to pause and recognize the amazing men and women who put on the uniform, answered the call of our Nation, and ultimately gave their lives to defend the freedoms we dearly treasure. We take time today to pause to remember, and to recognize their sacrifice.
I pray for the families who bear the burden of their sacrifice, the husbands, wives, children, mothers, and fathers, who gave up their loved one. Comfort them by Your Presence. Bring the community of faith around them to love them and walk with them through these times.
I pray for our Nation. Our physical freedom has been purchased at a great cost. May we not use that freedom for sin or for evil, but to do good. May we live in a way that glorifies and honors You and is worthy of their great sacrifice, because we know that You also, ultimately gave Your life for us, to save us even from ourselves. You call us to live lives worthy of the Gospel.
This Memorial Day, may we pause to honor those who have purchased our freedom, love those who bear that burden, and walk in a manner worthy of this great sacrifice.
It’s in the Name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.
